Violinist Lindsey Stirling Goes Viral

Classical violinist Lindsey Stirling has once again reached viral status, this time with her new music video, “Beyond The Veil.” The song is one of 12 on her newest album, Shatter Me.

With over 1 million views and climbing, “Beyond the Veil” is even more popular than her 2012 YouTube hit, Crystallize, which features the dubstep violinist performing in a snowy wonderland.

Lindsey Stirling’s first viral video was a cover of “Pump It” by The Black-Eyed Peas, which then caught the attention of America’s Got Talent. While this was the start of Stirling’s popularity, Lindsey described this as “the most depressing and difficult time” of her life, she told Sweety High in an interview. The show’s judges insisted that she needed to form a group to succeed, and booking agents claimed that her style would be impossible to market.

After “praying, trying and praying again” she met filmmaker and YouTube director Devin Graham, manager Ryan Wyler, and producer Marco G, and was finally able to hit her stride with the public through YouTube.

“All of these people were willing to take a chance on me,” she told Sweety High. “I had very little to offer at the time, and am so grateful for the sacrifices they made in my behalf. Looking back on it all now, sometimes I just can’t believe it. It’s very humbling.”

Lindsey Stirling now has over 4 million YouTube subscribers, and when Stirling re-released her debut album with four new songs, fans flocked to the stores to buy it, making it #20 in album sales.

Stirling described her approach to music in an ARTISTdirect interview. “I like to create music that’s really energetic and uplifting. I want people to feel empowered by it. For me, it’s all about the feeling you have when you’re listening to it. Are you inspired? Does it make you feel magical?”

Last Christmas, Lindsey Stirling hosted an Inova Violin give away challenging her fans to “make the world a better place.” As part of the contest, she also gave away two VIP concert tickets to a young man who helped a Chinese stranger at an airport.

Lindsey Stirling’s May 19th concert in Portland, Oregon is already sold out. The violinist, who lists Evanescence and Daft Punk as influences, will be touring in the US until her July 12th concert in Dallas, Texas. In October she will begin her European tour with a concert in Finland.

“Beyond the Veil” was produced by Everdream Pictures, a small, 14 employee company run out of Culver City, California. This is their second production for violinist Lindsey Stirling.
