Gwyneth Paltrow To Take A Break From Acting After Split From Chris Martin

There’s a new announcement that has emerged merely two days after Gwyneth Paltrow broke her silence in a Goop-inspired letter about her split from husband Chris Martin. On the heels of her split from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, Paltrow has decided to announce that she’s taking a break from acting.

Paltrow told E! in a statement that it’s too difficult being a “movie star mom” and that she needs to focus more on her children, post-split.

“I have to go back to mommy … I have a rule about one movie a year, so I can’t shoot anything for a while, but I’m developing some material and working on the site [Goop] and raising kids.”

The 41-year-old shares two children with her now-former husband Chris Martin. Paltrow’s daughter, Apple Blythe Alison Martin, is now 10-years-old, and her son, Moses Bruce Anthony Martin, is now 8-years-old.

Recently, the actress wrapped on a film with Johnny Depp called Mortdecai. Of her double life as an actress and a mom, Paltrow said:

I think it’s different when you have an office job, because it’s routine and, you know, you can do all the stuff in the morning and then you come home in the evening,” she continued. “When you’re shooting a movie, they’re like, ‘We need you to go to Wisconsin for two weeks,’ and then you work 14 hours a day and that part of it is very difficult. I think to have a regular job and be a mom is not as, of course there are challenges, but it’s not like being on set.

Two days ago Paltrow announced, to the surprise of no one, that she was splitting from her husband Chris Martin. In a letter posted on her site GOOP, Paltrow said:

It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate. We have been working hard for well over a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate. We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been. We are parents first and foremost, to two incredibly wonderful children and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time. We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and coparent, we will be able to continue in the same manner.

Despite splitting up it’s being reported that the pair went to the Bahamas on a “breakup moon.” Perhaps this is the next celebrity trend?
