Anne Hathaway Would ‘Love’ To Play Catwoman In ‘Batman Vs. Superman’

Anne Hathaway wouldn’t mind slipping into the Catwoman costume one more time.

It’s still unclear if the character will make an appearance in Man of Steel director Zack Snyder’s highly-anticipated superhero flick Batman vs. Superman. If the filmmaker wants to work Selina Kyle into the storyline, then he Hathaway is more than ready to put on the outfit one more time. Just pick up the phone and give her a call.

According to MTV News, Anne Hathaway touched on her willingness to play Catwoman in the next Batman flick while promoting the animated sequel Rio 2. Unfortunately for fans who are looking for juicy bits of gossip about the movie, the actress stopped short of saying whether the heroine would appear in the follow-up.

“I would love it if that happened,” she explained. In short: She’s probably not allowed to discuss anything of that nature with the press. Nice try, though.

Den of Geek reported earlier this year that Anne Hathaway is completely open to playing the character in an standalone project. However, apparently no one’s discussing the idea just yet. If you loved the actress’ portrayal of Catwoman, then keep your fingers crossed. A few tweets or messages to Warner Bros. probably wouldn’t hurt either.

“There would always be interest in the wonderful character who I love so much that in a recent Q&A where I had to get up and talk about it, somebody asked me what it was like to say goodbye to her and I burst into tears. Which is just about the most un-Selina Kyle thing you can do,” Anne explained during a recent interview.

She continued, “Nobody’s talked to me about it. I’m a big fan of the idea, but there’s nothing happening. It just kind of exists in my imagination.”

Of course, Anne Hathaway might have some competition for the role of Catwoman in the form of form of Eliza Dushku. The former Dollhouse star apparently wouldn’t mind portraying Selina Kyle at some point down the road, including Snyder’s Batman vs. Superman.

“I of course will keep my phone on and would scratch and claw at the chance to film her in live action form,” Dushku explained to ComicBook.com. The actress previously tackled the role in the animated flick Batman: Year One.

If all of this Batman talk has spurred your appetite for Dark Knight-related goodies, then keep your eyes peeled for FOX’s Gotham. The series will follow a young Bruce Wayne before he donned the cape and cowl for the very first time. Touch alum David Mazouz will play Wayne while Camren Bicondova is handling the part of Kyle.
