Bella Thorne Making Jump From Disney To ‘Amityville’

Bella Thorne’s star appears to be rising rapidly. The Disney Channel star has been linked to appear in what could be a blockbuster horror film.

Thorne is set to star in Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes alongside Jennifer Jason Leigh. Bella has largely stuck to bubbly, happy fare over the course of her career, so appearing in this next chapter for the Amityville series will certainly be a departure to what Thorne’s fans are used to seeing her in.

The Wrap reports that Bella’s new flick will be directed by Franck Khalfoun, who last helmed Maniac. There isn’t a whole lot known about Thorne’s latest project, though Bloody Disgusting reports it will center around Jennifer Jason Leigh’s character, who is a single mother.

It seems likely that the 16-year-old Bella Thorne will play one of three children who move into the famously haunted house with their mother (Joan). The rest of Bloody Disgusting‘s synopsis says that Bella and her family will move into the home only to later discover its rather dark history.

This is also where it gets a bit confusing because there appear to be a number of different synopses for the film floating around the web. IMDB.com‘s interpretation of how new the new film starring Bella Thorne will take place is this:

An ambitious TV news intern leads a team of journalists, clergymen and paranormal researchers into an investigation of the most famous haunted house case in the world.

Considering the title has The Lost Tapes in its description, it is possible there could be a blending of the two descriptions. Perhaps Thorne and her family move into the house only to meet a grisly end.

Then another part could be a “found footage” type storyline that would have the reporters and the intern stumbling across Bella’s family’s demise.

While the horror genre isn’t an area Thorne is well recognized in yet, Bella has another thriller on the horizon. She is slated to star alongside The Walking Dead’s Chandler Riggs and the Fantastic Four‘s Ioan Gruffudd in Home Invasion.

That film’s plot is given away nicely by the title. The movie will center around a family who become trapped in their own home by mysterious intruders who look to play a life-and-death game. The rules of the game only become clearer as the horrifying night wears on.

It’s safe to say that Bella Thorne might be setting herself up as her generation’s scream queen.
