Duck Dynasty Fan Drives 20 Hours To See Star — What Happened Next Changed His Life [Video]

Duck Dynasty fans are among some of the most loyal fans in television. The reason why is because many people can relate to the family relationships, humorous situations, and strong religious beliefs espoused by the show’s stars.

According to The Blaze, one fan drove 20 hours to see Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson. While there have been fans of other celebrities who have certainly done crazier things, what sets this fan’s story apart from others is the fact that he traveled the distance not to simply get an autograph or her the Duck Dynasty star speak — he came to be baptized.

The fan — New Jersey man Brian Richards — made the trip in early March all the way to West Monroe, Louisiana, where he was baptized by the Duck Dynasty star at the White Ferry Road Church of Christ.

The fact that Richards drove such a distance wasn’t lost on Robertson, telling people in attendance:

“From New Jersey, I can count on one hand the people I met from New Jersey.”

As the Duck Dynasty star and Richards entered the church’s baptismal pool, this is what Robertson said:

“You are now going to die to sin. You’re going to be buried — the old you — and the new one will come forth. God will seal you with his spirit and you will be guaranteed to be raised from the dead one day and live forever. Good news, you know?”

Although Robertson has faced scrutiny from some groups for his religious beliefs, he has not wavered from what his personal convictions are.

There has been some recent talk that Duck Dynasty would perhaps not be able to survive the controversy that surrounded Robertson’s remarks on his support of traditional marriage, recent numbers indicate that Duck Dynasty and its star have come out from the controversy without losing too much steam.

After A&E originally announced in late 2013 that Roberston would no longer be allowed on the show, cooler heads prevailed after a few weeks and the Duck Dynasty star was allowed to rejoin the show with the rest of his family.

Of course, this only came to pass after passionate conversations on both sides of the opinion regarding Robertson’s dismissal. Those who support gay marriage also supported Robertson’s dismissal from the show, while those who believe similarly to the Duck Dynasty star felt that the star was unnecessarily removed from the show.

Duck Dynasty is currently airing its third season. The show can be viewed on A&E or watched on aetv.com.
