Megacon 2014 Features Stan Lee, ‘The Walking Dead’ Stars, Cosplay, And More
Megacon 2014 is right around the corner and cosplayers everywhere are gearing up in preparation for the main event of Florida.
In a related report by The Inquisitr, actor Ryan Frye is famous for his cosplay and his latest work was a reenactment of Captain Kenway from Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.
Just in case you don’t know the term cosplay, it stands for “costume play”, where you dress up as your favorite character for a day (or, in some cases, all the time). Geeks from all over the nation swarm one big convention center just to have fun.
The three day Megacon 2014 is one of March’s largest geek culture conventions on the schedule, estimated to generate more than $23 million in economic impact within the central Florida area. The Orange County Convention Center attendance numbers are estimated at 40,000, but executives with Megacon said the convention could welcome more than 75,000 heads in total, including 400 exhibitors and more than 250 artist. It’s possible they are correct because even Google trends shows that search volume for Megacon 2014 is almost double that of Megacon 2013 in the lead up to the show.
The famous Marvel creator Stan Lee will be on-hand all three days, although meeting him in person usually requires waiting in lines that wind back and forth across the show floor. On Saturday Stan Lee will do a Q and A from 11:25 to 12:15 he will also be doing autographs and photo ops throughout the convention. Don’t forget to pick up your Stan Lee bobble head that’s an exclusive to Megacon 2014.
Unfortunately, Lauren Cohan and few others of the The Walking Dead have cancelled their appearance at the show with co-star Danai Guirira (who plays Michonne). The remaining Walking Dead co-stars will have a panel for Q&A Saturday afternoon.
Manu Bennett Spartacus and the hit TV show Arrowwill also hold a Q&A session on Sunday afternoon to discuss his role as Crixus in the Spartacus franchise. The main focus will probably be his Deathstroke/Slade Wilson role on The CW’s Arrow as well as his role in the Hobbit trilogy.
