Kevin Hart Teams Up With Jamie Foxx For ‘Black Phantom’

Kevin Hart apparently doesn’t plan to take a breath anytime soon.

Since the guy wants to keep making films while moviegoers are ready and willing to cough up the cash, Hart is reportedly in talks to star in the upcoming Screen Gems endeavor Black Phantom. According to Variety, award-winning actor Jamie Foxx could co-star in the flick.

Not only is Kevin re-teaming with producer Will Packer for the project, he’s also working once again with Fantastic Four director Tim Story. The pair previously joined forces for Ride Along, Think Like a Man, and this summer’s Think Like a Man Too. Since the guys obviously have a very strong professional relationship, they’re reportedly willing to work together one more time.

However, Story is still in negotiations to tackle directing duties on Black Phantom. This means someone else could ultimately end up helming the project. However, Kevin Hart’s involvement is almost a done deal.

Comic Book Resources reports that Hart will play a mobster who decides to hire a killer known as the Black Phantom to take care of some of his dirty work. What he doesn’t realize is that the same hitman was previously contracted to kill him. Fans should anticipate a wide variety of hilarious shenanigans to unfold.

Writers Dave Lease and Megan Hinds are reportedly penning the script for Black Phantom. Easy A director Will Gluck, who also handled the Annie remake, will co-produce the flick as well. Unfortunately, it’s unclear when Screen Gems wants to have this project in theaters around the world.

Kevin Hart has a slew of motion pictures looming on the cinematic horizon. The stand-up comedian also appears in Get Hard with Will Ferrell, Chris Rock’s Finally Famous, and The Wedding Ringer. Hart will reprise his role as Ben Barber in Ride Along 2, a film that’s scheduled to hit theaters in 2016.

What’s the secret to Kevin Hart’s success? During his chat with USA Today, the comedian revealed that making everyone laugh is essentially what helped his career grow in Hollywood.

“Universal, baby!. I pride myself on appealing to everyone at the end of the day, not just black people, not just white people, not just Chinese people. That’s one thing we as people share is laughter,” Hart explained.

He continued, “It takes a special person to laugh at themselves. I say what people may think before they say it, and when you address it first, it erases it. It also sets a tone. People can laugh at you laughing at yourself. That opens up the arena for people to then laugh at themselves and at their problems. I’m not a perfect person, I’m flawed, so I put it out there.”
