Emily VanCamp Talks Real Love And Having Kids Soon

Emily VanCamp isn’t actually a Canadian by birth, but she considers herself an adoptee of the country up north after the entire VanCamp clan moved there when Emily was 11.

Now she’s back living stateside and building an acting career that continues to blossom. VanCamp is the heroine on the hit romantic mystery program Revenge and is also finding big time success on the big screen.

VanCamp’s next role is as the secret agent who becomes the love interest of a red, white and blue spandex wearing super hero. Emily plays Agent 13 in the upcoming Captain America: Winter Soldier. Winning a role in a blockbuster super hero flick was no easy task. Emily VanCamp had to beat out actresses that included Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones fame) and Alison Brie (Community).

VanCamp has gained quite a bit of success in her personal life as well. During a recent interview with Elle Canada, Emily talked about dating her co-star on Revenge, Joshua Brown.

“Josh and I keep it all very separate. I barely talk about him in interviews, to be honest. It’s just really funny in the moments when we’re playing these absolutely absurd things. I call him wife-beater Daniel. It’s hard for my family to watch—it’s also hard for them to see me in that light. But we’re actors. None of that lives in any of us. Thank God!”

VanCamp told the magazine. During the same interview, Emily talked about her desire to start a family soon and her realizations that she is growing up. In particular she said the one thing that has surprised VanCamp recently is how excited she is to start a family.

“It never seemed tangible, but my sister just had a baby—beautiful little Ivy—and my sister Alison is having a baby boy. Suddenly, it’s like that part of my life is real. I find myself dreaming about it all the time. [Laughs] In your late 20s, you start to realize you can’t call yourself a baby anymore.”

It seems likely that the Canadian transplant will not parent her children, whenever they arrive, as her mother treated VanCamp and her sisters. Talking to InStyle magazine she explained that as punishment, Emily’s mother used wintry conditions.

“My mum would lock us out of the house,” VanCamp said with affection, “We come from tough stock. It gets freezing there but you’d just see little snowsuits running around. It was part of my childhood that shaped me.”

Emily VanCamp seems to have been shaped into an actress that should be reckoned with.
