AirBnB Renter Throws Sex Party For Overweight People In Unsuspecting Man’s Apartment

AirBnB rented out a New York man’s upscale apartment over the weekend of March 8, only to have the apartment’s actual tenant come back to find his place trashed by what apparently was a wild sex party for overweight people.

Ari Teman, a professional comedian who rents a one-bedroom apartment in New York City’s upscale Chelsea district, rented out his place via AirBnb for the weekend to a man named David Carter, who said that he wanted the place to put up a couple of in-laws who needed a place to stay during a family wedding.

AirBnB is an online service that lets homeowners and renters lease out their private homes to strangers for short-term stays.

Teman handed over the keys to his AirBnB renter on Friday afternoon, then went to dinner before leaving for his weekend trip. But when he briefly returned to the apartment to pick up one last thing before leaving, he found damage to his furniture and stereo equipment, as well as liquor and condoms strewn around the place, as well as several stragglers from the party moving items around in a haphazard fashion.

“There was a huge posse of large men and women in hip-hop attire looking like they got tossed from a club, hanging out in front,” he said.

When he Googled the information that Carter had provided — which in truth, he probably should have done before turning over his keys — he found this:

Apparently a “BBW Panty Raid” party, a sex orgy for overweight people, had just been shut down by the time he got back — not what either Teman nor AirBnB had in mind, though Teman said that Carter received positive reviews on the AirBnB site.

“This was just so bizarre,” said the 31-year-old traveling comic, who in 2009 was named Jewish Community Hero of the Year, by the Jewish Federations Of North America. “The worst part of the Internet right there was in my apartment. There were all sorts of people walking out of my apartment and people coming in from the back yard. It was a huge mess.”

Carter, on the other hand, professed innocence.

“I had six people, friends and family,” Carter, 32, said in an interview with The New York Post. “He is making a big to-do because he is being evicted. I was not arrested. I did nothing wrong.”

Teman not only called police but contacted AirBnB — as well as going public on various social media with his complaints about the “XXX Freak Fest.”

AirBnB responded quickly, paying for Teman’s locks to be changed, as well as for a week-long hotel stay while the apartment was repaired and cleaned, for which AirBnB gave him $23,817.

“Over 11 million guests have had a safe and positive experience on Airbnb and problems for hosts and guests are incredibly rare,” said AirBnB in a statement. “But when they happen, we try to help make things right”
