Jennifer Lopez Acts Like A Man In Making New Video

If you are looking for some serious eye candy, Jennifer Lopez has certainly provided it in her new video, I Luh Ya PaPi. Eye candy for the ladies out there, that is. Lopez has gone out of her way in the making of this video to act as men typically do…. but Jennifer set out to objectify men, not women!

Yesterday, Lopez premiered the video for her new single, I Luh Ya PaPi. In the video, Jennifer is doing more than just singing and dancing – although there is plenty of both. But the video starts with a story. Jenny and her friends are sitting around debating what the video should be about. Lopez vetoes proposals to film at a carnival or a zoo, especially after it’s noted that if she were a guy, the conversation would be about yachts and half-naked girls. Then the million dollar question is asked:

“Why do men always objectify the women in every single video? Why can’t we for once objectify the men?”

The video takes off from there. Que to Jennifer Lopez wearing her infamous Versace dress that she wore to the 2000 Grammys. The video then jumps around from scene to scene, with the underlying theme being that of a beautiful Lopez singing and dancing, and throngs of half naked dudes doing everything from sunbathing to washing Jenny’s car, mainly while wearing very little clothing. One of Jennifer’s boy-toys even scrubs his crotch with a soapy sponge in a car washing scene. Now that’s acting!

Lopez’ video is the opposite of what you would get from most artists. She is 44 years old, has had a successful movie, music and marketing career, and now Lopez is making a point to show that she is strong and powerful enough where she can play the role of the exploiter, as opposed to the traditional female role of looking good for a man.

Some have said that Lopez did not go far enough in this video. For instance, when rapper, French Montana, – a man – made an appearance later in the video, he was fully clothed and Lopez was dancing around him. More problematic were the two slightly dressed women also appearing in that portion of the video. Critics could say that while Lopez was making a video about objectifying men, she still had to include the types of scense that the bulk of the video just skewered.

You can watch Jennifer Lopez’ new video here. Instead of trying to turn the tables on men, and objectify them, shouldn’t Lopez try to make a video where men or women aren’t necessarily portrayed in a negative or sexist manner?
