James Spader In Talks To Take On “The Office” Role


James Spader appeared on the season finale of The Office an a possible interviewing replacement for Steve Carell as his character Michael Scott left the show for the love of his life and now it looks like NBC may be offering the actor a more regular role as a cast member on the hit sitcom.

According to the Hollywood Reporter Spades character would replace Kathy Bates as the CEO of Dunder-Mifflin, the paper company where the show takes place.

Bates is exiting the show as her own sitcom Harry’s Law was renewed for a new season. The idea is that Spader will be introduced as Scott’s successor but then end up in a corporate job, leaving the regional manager position vacant for another actor to take the role.

Currently Rainn Wilson, Ed Helms, and Craig Robinson have all said they would like to see their own characters get promoted into Scott’s old role.

Executive producer Ricky Gervais wanted Will Arnett to take on the leading role however he is busy with his own new sitcom Up All Night.
