Tyler Perry Wants ‘All The White People’ To See ‘The Single Moms Club’

Tyler Perry is hoping that a lot of people check out his latest flick The Single Moms Club this weekend. That includes you, white people.

The prolific writer-director recently appeared on Chelsea Lately to promote the project. Perry told Handler that his mission was to make sure Caucasians spent their hard-earned money on a ticket over the next three days.

“[I want you] to invite all the white people to come see the movie. That’s all I’m saying. That’s why I’m here. And there are white people in the movie,” Tyler Perry joked.

Not one to pass up an opportunity for a little comedy, Handler turned to the camera and did precisely what her guess had requested. However, it’s unclear if her plea for white people to check out the film will work out for Tyler in the long run.

“Okay, homies — my kinda homies — we all need to go out and support his movie. We’re appealing to white people! It’s called ‘The Single Moms Club,'” the host kindly told viewers at home.

Tyler Perry might need a little help getting casual moviegoers interested in The Single Moms Club. Although the filmmaker’s fanbase will likely show up this weekend, some folks may have a hard time getting past the negative reviews that have recently popped up online.

The movie’s Rotten Tomatoes score is presently perched at 29 percent out of seven reviews. Most of the projects Perry puts together are completely shredded by critics, though this generally doesn’t stop his endeavors from making tidy sums of money at the box office.

The Wrap critic Alonso Duralde explained that Singles Mom Club offers nothing new from Tyler. He explained, “In any other movie, the filmmaker would rightly be accused of trafficking in lazy stereotypes, but lazy stereotypes are the beachhead into which Tyler Perry has firmly planted his flag.”

The Hollywood Reporter predicts that Tyler Perry’s latest cinematic effort could generate between $15 million and $20 million by the time this weekend wraps up. Since most of the guy’s pictures are low-budget, this one shouldn’t have too much trouble recouping its budget. If it doesn’t do well in theaters, then there’s always home video.

The Inquisitr previously reported that Need for Speed should top the box office this weekend. The big screen adaptation of the video game franchise should bring home approximately $25 million.
