‘Little People, Big World’ Stars Matt and Amy Roloff Separate After 26 Years

Little People, Big World couple, Matt and Amy Roloff, have announced that they have separated after 26 years of marriage. The couple revealed to ABC News that although they are now living separately, they are still working together.

“Though we have weathered many storms together, we recently made the tough decision to engage in a trial separation,” they said in a statement. “Matt remains living on the farm in our guesthouse and we work together every day on the farm, on our business endeavors and most importantly, raising our amazing children.”

According to E! News, the Roloffs will be addressing the separation in an upcoming episode set to air on TLC March 25.

In the clip, Matt Roloff states that Amy and him “stuck it out for years when maybe we shouldn’t have.” He continues on to explain that he never “quite felt at home” in his home. “So something needed to change. We needed to try something different.”

“I think what Matt and I failed to do over many, many years is learned to live together,” Amy stated according to People. “It’s not my choice for him to leave. I am saddened by it. We don’t have a plan as far as how we are going to work this out so it’s not going to be easy.”

The Roloff family have been in the public eye ever since the TLC reality show Little Couple, Big World began airing back in 2006. The show chronicled the daily lives of not only Matt and Amy, but also their four kids, twins Jeremy and Zack, 23, Molly, 20, and Jacob, 17.

According to ABC News, the decision to have Matt move into the guest house was his choice. Matt decided to move into the guest house around thanksgiving of last year in hopes that the space would help the couple sort through some things. In the clip above, the two can be seen arguing over the smallest of things, such as cleaning and organizing the family home.

The couple hasn’t directly addressed whether or not divorce is on the table, but in the clip of the upcoming episode of Little People Big World, Matt says “you can call it a separation if you want, a trial separation, but its more just giving each other some space.” It would seem like the couple just wants some time to figure things out before jumping the gun and going straight to divorce.
