Top 5 Sugar-Filled Drinks and Snacks You Can’t Even Have ONE of Without Exceeding New Daily Intake Guidelines

There are a number of popular drinks and snacks the average American consumes on a regular basis. However, most people don’t consume just one. But, there’s an underlying issue that’s been evaluated in regards to some of the most popular sugar-filled drinks.

According to the Daily Mail, the World Health Organization issued new guidelines stating that a person’s daily intake of sugar should not exceed 6 teaspoons. A number of doctors and researchers have also associated such food consumption with corpulence, stating that the avoidance of sugar is actually a way to rule out substantial problems with the ever-growing epidemic of obesity.

The publication also reported that the staggering number of carbonated beverages and food-processed snacks contain “up to double the safe amount of sugar that experts believe adults should consume per day.”

Check out the list:

1. Starbucks Caramel Frappuccino One single Starbucks caramel Frappuccino actually contains 11 teaspoons of sugar, which nearly doubles recommended daily consumption amount of six teaspoons of sugar.

2. Coca Cola and Pepsi It comes as no surprise that two of the top carbonated beverages would exceed the number recommended daily consumption of sugar. Twelve-ounce cans of Coca Cola and Pepsi contain nine teaspoons of sugar each. However, most people usually consume double this amount on average, with 20oz bottled Coca Cola and Pepsi beverages. Therefore, most people consume an average of approximately 14 to 15 ounces of sugar per serving. Drinks purchased from fast food restaurants are often larger in size than bottled drinks. So, the sugar consumption may actually be quadrupled in comparison to the recommended daily intake.

3. RedBull It gives you wings! With the seven teaspoons of sugar it has, it definitely would make a person fly! However, that seven teaspoons is actually confined to the 8.4-ounce can. So, larger cans pack more punch which means more sugar. The massive 20-ounce can contains approximately 16 teaspoons of sugar. 4. MARS Candy Bar A MARS candy bar contains approximately 51mg of sugar, which actually equates to eight teaspoons! Just one candy bar can exceed the daily recommendation.

5. TWIX Candy Bar While TWIX candy bars actually meet the daily consumption recommendation, its only by a small margin. A TWIX candy bar actually contains six teaspoons per serving.

London cardiologist and health campaigner, Graham McGregor, also weighed in with his perspective of the sugar epidemic and its growing negative effects on people. “Added sugar is a completely unnecessary part of our diets, contributing to obesity, type II diabetes and tooth decay. We have known about the health risks of sugar for years and yet nothing substantial has been done.”
