Lil Boose: Rapper Recently Released From Prison

Torrance Hatch A.K.A Lil Boosie makes headlines because of his release from prison Wednesday. Boosie was released yesterday from the Louisiana state Penitentiary at Angola, but the funny thing is that Boosie didn’t even know about his release until an hour before he was released. Boosie was sent to prison for an eight-year sentence for drug charges. Boosie is out on a parole sentence that lasts until 2018.

Warden Burl Cain told reporters that a prison van took Lil Boosie to the West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s office substation Wednesday night, where Boosie’s friends and family picked him up, and took him back home to New Orleans.

Lil Boosie was originally supposed to be released later in May, but when he completed his “self help” program, it made him eligible for release.

Back in 2009 Boosie first arrived in Louisiana after he pleaded guilty to his third offense for Marijuana possession charge, but the criminal activities didn’t stop there. Lil Boosie was accused of paying Michael Louding to kill Terry Boyd. Louding had told police in a video statement that Boosie paid him $2800 to kill Terry Boyd. It was a publicized murder trial in 2009 for the murder of Terry Boyd, but he ended up being acquitted of first degree murder in May 2012.

Even though he was acquitted of the charge, he ended up staying in jail because he pleaded guilty to drug related charges in 2011. The drug related charges consisted of Lil Boosie conspiring to smuggle cocaine, marijuana, ecstasy, and other illegal drugs. These were the charges that led him to the Louisiana State Penitentiary.

At first it took awhile for Lil Boosie to come around, the warden said, but eventually he came to ask for help through rehabilitation programs. Lil Boosie had to complete one substance abuse program and one religious-based program. Lil Boosie had even got his GED certificate when he was serving his time in prison.

Warden Cain states: “I’m hoping that he’s going to be a better person when he gets out than when he got there. When Hatch first came here, he didn’t understand that he had to do what we say.” According to the Warden Cain, Boosie would have been released earlier than Wednesday if he did not violate prison rules since his time staying there.

East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore III says: “He’s kind of in an unique situation where he can deliver a lot of messages, and I really hope its the right message.”, and that’s why fans can’t wait to hear what Lil Boosie will rap about next.
