Be careful of that guy from the tech department, at least according to a survey of 300 IT professionals made by information security company Cyber-Ark. The result revealed tat that one in every three information technology professionals abuse administrative passwords to access confidential data.
The snoops look at your salary details, personal emails, with 47 percent saying they had accessed information not relevant to their role.
“All you need is access to the right passwords or privileged accounts and you’re privy to everything that’s going on within your company. For most people, administrative passwords are a seemingly innocuous tool used by the IT department to update or amend systems. To those ‘in the know’ they are the keys to the kingdom.” Mark Fullbrook, Cyber-Ark’s UK director, said.
