Lea Michele’s ‘Legends Of Oz: Dorothy’s Return’ Gets New Trailer [Video]

Lea Michele is best known for her role on the Fox television musical series Glee. The actress is apparently trying to expand her horizons into the art of voicing animated characters in the upcoming movie, Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return.

The movie centers around, pretty much exaclty what you might think it centers around in that Dorothy has returns to her Kansas home, but finds that the town has been destroyed by the tornado that whisked her to Oz in the first place. As she watches her friends and neighbors pack up and head out, she gets magically teleported back to the magical land she recently left.

It turns out the citizens of the place that is somewhere over the rainbow need her help again. The movie has been getting several trailers over the course of the last few months and the video released this weekend appears to be the final, official trailer. Lea Michele voices the main character in Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return.

Now back in the wondrous land she worked so hard to leave, Michele’s character once again teams up with fan favorites, the Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow and the Tin Man. New characters are introduced along the way, as Lea’s Dorothy runs across a man made out of marshmallow who is susceptible to other people’s intentions, a tiny china doll princess who is bossy because she’s hiding her own frailty and a tugboat that has a few too many personalities to count.

Because the wicked queen has been successfully defeated in the movie that predates Legends of Oz there has to be a new villain. This time, its a man who goes by the name of Jester that believes the entire land should be under his control.

Dorothy realizes that she must now fight yet another big bad in order to help her friends find freedom and then she needs to decide where home really is and whether there’s any place like it.

This isn’t the first time that Michele has lent her voice to an animated character, but it is the first time she’s done so on the big screen. Previously the actress has made appearances on both The Simpsons and The Cleveland Show. It doesn’t appear the fact that both those shows also appear on Fox is much of a coincidence.

Lea Michele has been vocal about her process of healing from the death of her longtime boyfriend Cory Monteith and it appears throwing herself into her work is part of that healing process.
