Tatum O’neal Discusses New ‘Found’ Memoir and TV Show With Dad Ryan

Former child star Tatum O’Neal is back with a new memoir detailing her her dysfunctional relationship with her father, her infamous drug arrest in New York in 2008, her marriage to tennis star John McEnroe, and everything else that her first book, A Paper Life, didn’t tell us.

Scheduled for release tomorrow, June 21st, Found: A Daughter’s Journey Home is timed to coincide with her new documentary series, Ryan & Tatum: The O’Neals, which will premiered this past Sunday on OWN (Oprah’s New TV Network).

Apparently the show, which covers the attempts by Tatum and her father Ryan to reconcile a relationship, was inspired by the late Farrah Fawcett- who Ryan O’neal left his family in 1979 to be with.

“That[Fawcett’s death] was the last thing to help to soften my resolve and help make a relationship work and help build the bond back,” Tatum explained. “And that was before the show was even a possibility.”

Although O’Neal’s debut memoir Paper Life was a best seller, she admitted that it wasn’t even remotely healing and upon it’s completion she was still broken. Hopefully for the star, healing will come with ‘Found’ as she plans on revealing “everything. The truth. The struggle. The hope. The love. I believe it is the right thing to do.”
