I-25 Accident In Colorado Piles Up 104 Cars, Kills One, Injures 30 Others [Video]

An I-25 accident in Colorado involving a 104 car pileup resulted in the deaths of one person and has injured 20 other drivers.

In a related report by The Inquisitr, deaths from Colorado avalanches are the worst in the nation, with this time of year statistically being the worst.

Police say the I-25 accident was actually two separate accidents between University Boulevard and Broadway and also Downing. At first there were reports of only 60 vehicles being involved but those numbers grew until they reached 104 cars. Officials say they received at least 30 patients from the I-25 accident although only one death has been confirmed so far. No names have been released. Paramedics also stayed at the scene of the accident in order to make sure everyone kept warm while the I-25 accident site was clear.

Unfortunately, the lousy weather conditions can also be blamed for the I-25 accident. The Colorado Department Of Transportation (CDOT) is working hard to clear icy roads packed with snow. CDOT says it has sent out 100 snow plows and four large tankers in an attempt to clear out the roadways. Despite crews working 12 hour shift it’s been a slow slog, although they say they’ll continue working until the roads are completely clear of snow.

The good news is that as of the late afternoon the area near the I-25 accident was cleaned up and the roads were re-opened for traffic after being closed for five hours on Saturday. Poor driving conditions along Interstate 70 resulted in several other crashes throughout Colorado and CDOT warned everyone to expect severe delays in Summit, Clear Crreek, and Eagle counties.
