Mary-Kate Olsen Engaged To Nicolas Sarkozy’s Brother

Mary-Kate Olsen is ready to walk down the aisle after boyfriend Olivier Sarkozy popped the question.

Her long-term boyfriend, who is the half-brother of former French president Nicolas Sarkozy, reportedly asked Mary-Kate to marry him.

A source confirmed the engagement to Us Weekly.

The couple has been a fixture on the New York City social circuit, hitting up New York Knicks games and fashion events since they first stated dating in 2012. The 44-year-old Sarkozy is a French banker who has been married once before to Charlotte Bernard. The couple has two kids together, 12-year-old Julien and 10-year-old Margo.

Sources say Mary-Kate Olsen has gotten along very well with Sarkozy’s kids.

“Mary-Kate has made him a better father. She remembers all the kids’ special events,” one source told Us Weekly. “She thinks he’s a great dad.”

The Full House star has become an acclaimed fashion designer, and recently announced that she is giving up acting for good.

“We were always hard workers as kids,” Mary-Kate said last year. “It’s just the way we are, the way we were raised. Our work ethic was everything, and that never left us. We like to work hard, and we like to try to do everything 100 percent. In fact, it’s actually almost impossible for us not to. Sometimes you succeed and sometimes not so much, but it’s learning.”

Mary-Kate’s twin sister Ashley said she credits her parents for allowing the girls to sit in on business meetings when they were younger, letting them soak up the knowledge that they have now parlayed into the fashion world.

Mary-Kate is not the only one in the family dating an older man. Her sister Ashley has been spending time with Moneyball director Bennett Miller, who is 20 years older than her.

Mary-Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy have not officially announced their engagement yet, and there is no word on when the wedding could be.
