Lebron James, Kevin Love Dunk Contest? Who Would Win?
A Lebron James dunk was mimicked by Kevin Love dunk practice and he pulled it off pretty easily. Maybe the USA teammates could put on a show in the 2015 NBA slam dunk contest during All Star weekend.
The Kevin Love dunk was recorded during practice on Thursday by Ronny Turiaf and the practice gym erupted. What score would you give this Lebron James impersonation?
“It was a funny celebration because I said, ‘If I get it, you guys have to go wild,'” Love told reporters after the dunk. “I think Ronny was filming it and he got everybody’s reaction. It was completely spontaneous, one of those just fun things, but LeBron I guess was probably a little more aerodynamic than I was on that.”
Just prior to the 2014 NBA slam dunk contest, Lebron James went off in practice. James threw down two ridiculous slams that had everyone speculating if he was going to surprise the crowd by coming out and throwing it down. NBA fans everywhere wish he had, because the lackluster contest this year was a bit of an embarrassment. Do you think the Kevin Love dunk can compare to the second one from Lebron in this video?
If you can make Dwyane Wade as giddy as a school girl, then you must be doing something right. Love doesn’t actually think he can compete with James in a dunk contest. Teammate Kevin Martin made sure to poke a little fun at the difference in “body shape” between Love and James.
“We were just trying to imitate the big fella down in South Beach,” Martin said. “K-Love’s got a couple more cuts in his body that he needs to get but I think he did a great job throwing it off, a nice little highlight reel.”
Love’s dunk did pose an interesting idea for the NBA, if they could ever get better dunkers to participate. It would be pretty cool to see players try and outdo each other, “PIG” style. But don’t get too carried away with the dunk. Lebron James would beat Kevin Love in a dunk contest, whether it was in practice or the real thing.
