Justin Bieber Jail Videos: Unsteady In Sobriety Test, Apparently Less So In Pushups

Justin Bieber’s latest video has viral written all over it, but he doesn’t sing a note.

The 19-year-old is the unsteady, and at one point, stumbling star of a police jail video, as he attempts to walk a straight white line during a sobriety test at Miami Beach police station after his January 23 arrest for suspected DUI while allegedly drag racing.

Miami-Dade County Prosecutors released over 10 hours of CCTV custodial videos of Bieber to the media on Wednesday, February 26 following a public records request by news media organizations.

In one of the soundless videos, Bieber wears a black hoodie, black pants, and bright orange shoes. The teen singer wobbles at points in the test as a police officer looks on.

In what seems to be a difficult sobriety test for the Canadian, in one part he is seen having an “animated face-to-face conversation with a police officer in which both point fingers at each other,” The Associated Press writes.

The seated male is Khalil Amir Sharieff, 19. The R&B singer was arrested for suspected DUI along with Bieber and drove a red Ferrari during the incident. Some way into the jail video, Sharieff appears to talk to Bieber and raises a “clenched fist,” AP notes.

Preliminary results from a toxicology report revealed the active ingredient of marijuana and the anti-anxiety drug Xanax were present in Bieber’s system at the time of his arrest, so a degree of stumbling seems inevitable.

Police reports described Bieber after his arrest as “excited, talkative, profanity, co-operative, insulting, and cocky.” It was noted that he had a pronounced odour of alcohol on his breath, bloodshot eyes and a flushed face, despite negligible 0.011 and 0.014 blood alcohol content in two Breathalyzer tests.

An officer who traveled with Bieber from the roadside to Miami Beach police station alleged told the singer he “reeked of marijuana.”

To which the singer allegedly replied, “Yeah, we were smoking all night at the studio.”

In a second video, Bieber is seen in a dimly lit holding cell. Seconds in, he drops to the floor and completes 23 1/2 pushups in 28 seconds according to TMZ.

Several jail clips have been withheld from release following a motion from Bieber’s attorneys. These reportedly include four segments showing Bieber urinating into a cup for a drug test.

Miami-Dade County Judge William Altfield is reviewing those videos in chambers and will announce a decision on their fate at a March 4 hearing.

Bieber has pleaded not guilty to DUI, resisting arrest without violence and driving with an invalid license.

While media outlets have gone big on the jail video releases, the singer — who turns 20 this Saturday — appears to be letting natural oblivion ease the drama.
