Luke Bryan Shares His Love Of NASCAR While Performing At Daytona 500

Luke Bryan doesn’t just like NASCAR… no, he says he loves it. The country music singer has made a few different appearances to NASCAR events, but this past Sunday he finally got the chance to perform at the Daytona 500, and it was the first time the singer got to attend the event.

Luke performed the pre-race concert, and took part in a news conference before he took the stage. According to the Florida Times-Union, Luke claims he has been a huge NASCAR fan since childhood.

“Growing up as a huge NASCAR fan, that was what we did, watch races on Sunday,” said Luke Bryan. “My dad was a crazy Cale Yarborough fan. I’ve been a part of so many races through the years, but this is my first Daytona 500. I’m super excited about being here.”

USA Today reported that when asked, Luke couldn’t pick one driver as his favorite to win Sunday’s race, which ended with Dale Earnhardt Jr. taking the win. “I don’t necessarily have one driver,” he said.

“I have a couple that I’d love to see win. I have a lot of history with Jimmie Johnson, and my face was on the hood of Brad Keselowski’s car. And me and Dale Earnhardt Jr. have worked together on several things.”

In an earlier report by The Inquisitr, Dale Earnhardt Jr. took first place and was followed by Denny Hamlin, Brad Keselowski, and Jeff Gordon. The report continued on to say that Sunday’s race got off to a rocky start. The race was delayed for nearly six hours due to rain which later turned into a tornado warning that cleared the stands. “By the time the race resumed, they had waited through the longest rain delay in the Daytona 500?s storied history, according to a FOX Sports report.”

It seems like NASCAR and Country music seem to go hand in hand, but according to Luke Bryan, it’s more than just what’s on the surface. According to Taste Of Country, Luke compared NASCAR teams to his own road crew that help out while he’s on tour.

“I’m only as good as all the people around me, and so are drivers,” Bryan reveals. “I have 60 guys that work for me out on the road and make me who I am. Without those guys, it doesn’t happen. As a NASCAR driver, in probably the most competitive environment on earth, you have to have a strong team around you.”

Luke Bryan got to share his love for NASCAR after his news conference by performing some of his top hits to his fans before the race began. Did you get to see Luke Bryan before the big race?
