Avril Lavigne Tours To Promote New Album

Avril Lavigne is making her come back by going on tour to promote her new album. The French-Canadian singer started her Asian tour on January 31st in Osaka, Japan. Japan loved Avril Lavigne after the release of her 2004 album Under My Skin. Lavigne’s 5th stop on her tour is her biggest concert, Avril’s Manila concert in Indonesia. This is the fourth time she has performed in Indonesia, and each time they have welcomed her with love.

This time around Avril performed with her husband, Nickelback front man Chad Kroeger. The duo rocked the Smart Araneta Coliseum Monday night in celebration of Lavigne’s new album coming out in November. The next stops of Avril’s Asian tour is all through China, and the last three are in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Taiwan.

Avril Lavigne was a major hit in the early 2000’s. Her Let Go album was a six time platinum hit back in 2002. This is when the world really knew who Avril Lavigne was, and her famous tomboyish, and rebellious image became known. At the time pop stars ruled the music industry because of big artist like Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, and Avril Lavigne.

Some of Lavigne’s biggest singles were “Sk8ter Boi,” “Complicated,” and “I’m With You.” These singles were played all over the radio, and constantly streamed by MTV. What the fans loved about them was that they were simple, fun, and “rocking”. After her 2004 record Under My Skin was a new album for her, and started a new change in her performance, because of her transition into her 20’s.

Avril Lavigne’s next biggest hit was her album The Best Damn Thing. Rolling Stone gave that album great coverage at the time:

” ‘The Best Damn Thing’ is totally fearless about targeting pop radio and rather expert in its execution”

Four years later, Lavigne got a divorce from her first husband, and later released another album called Goodbye Lullaby. The album was full of lovelorn songs, that didn’t get too much attention from the critics. The New York Times wrote:

Lavigne was trying to be a little more expansive, vocally and emotionally, without leaving pop territory, but pop is where her gifts are: matching ringing melodies to generalities and heartfelt cliches.”

Currently Avril is on tour promoting her new album called Avril Lavigne. This album will show Avril going back to her teenage “punkish” roots.

Avril Lavigne’s newest album is set to be released in November.
