One of the reasons The Walking Dead is the highest rated show on television these days is their proven track record that at any point, your most beloved character could die.
[Warning: Mild Spoilers Ahead]
They’ve done it at the end of The Walking Dead season two when Shane was murdered by Rick in self-defense during the season finale. There have been heart wrenching moments like in season three when Rick’s wife was devoured shortly after giving birth to their daughter Judith. Season four’s mid season hiatus suffered the gruesome demise of father figure Herschel who’d been a mainstay on the show for years. Heck, The Walking Dead even killed off characters we’ve barely gotten to know, like when Axl was randomly gunned down inside the prison walls by The Governor and his cronies.
The bottom line? The Walking Dead is not afraid to kill off any of their characters. And with internet rumors that a major character will die in The Walking Dead season four, all bets are off as to who it might be – especially considering the fact that it will be a character that hasn’t died in the comic books. According to Comicbook.com:
“Ok, predicting that someone else will die before Season 4 of The Walking Dead wraps up is pretty much like predicting the sun will rise in the morning. However, we’ve got a pretty good indication of which cast member will be dying, and let’s just say it will be a real shocker. If what we believe is correct, then one of the main cast members who has not been killed in the comic book series will die during Season 4.”
Will it be Glenn or Maggie? Fan favorite Daryl Dixon, played by Norman Reedus? Or would they dare kill off the show’s main character Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln? As previously reported on Inquisitr, in a report by Yahoo News, Walking Dead star Andrew Lincoln believes it’s possible:
“I’ve always maintained that if and when I die, which is an inevitability in the show… as long as it pushes the story on, I’ll go with it,” Lincoln said.
Whether or not The Walking Dead could survive if Rick were killed off remains to be seen. In the meantime, we can take comfort in the knowledge that he’ll be front and center in this week’s installment of The Walking Dead, titled Claimed.
