Duck Dynasty star Willie Robertson had a quick chat with President Obama during his trip to the State of the Union.
The reality television star made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday evening. During his conversation with the late night talk show host, Robertson said he bumped into the President of the United States and had a pleasant chat as though the pair were old friends.
So how did someone from Duck Dynasty manage to get an invitation to a political event like the State of the Union? Robertson credits friend and Republican House of Representatives member Vance McAllister for getting him close to the president.
He told Kimmel:
“So, my buddy, Vance McAllister wins this special election. He’s only in for a year and then he has to run again, so he calls me up and he says, ‘Willie, State of the Union man. I may only be here for a year, you want to roll?’ I said ‘Let’s go, man, let’s do it.’ We’re literally high-fiving in the back of it like, ‘Can you believe it? We’re here!”
Since Robertson essentially got a backstage pass to the State of the Union, he was able to cozy up to President Obama for a quick chat.
“The president’s walking down the hall. And he sees me and he goes, ‘Willie, what’s up?’ I’m like, ‘Hey, what’s up?’ So we’re talking, and we’re having this conversation,” the Duck Dynasty star explained.
Robertson continued, “The last time I met him, at the Correspondents’ Dinner, I had a tux on. He’s like, ‘Where’s the tux?’ I’m like, ‘This is my State of the Union attire.'”
Willie’s wife and Duck Dynasty co-star Korie Robertson also got a chance to attend the State of the Union. Not surprisingly, a photo of the pair ended up making the rounds on Twitter.

Although the show is still popular in some circles, Duck Dynasty is watching its ratings slowly slide down the proverbial drain. However, this isn’t stopping the gang from cashing in on the craze. In fact, you can chow down on your own freeze-dried meal while you’re sitting in front of the tube.
“Our family franchises are built on hard work, family values and our great American heritage. We hope the Duck Commander Meals will help families take command of their hunger with fast-fixin’ food that’s whisker-lickin’ good. Happy, happy, happy!” Willie Robertson said in a recent statement.
