Singer and former X-Factor judge Demi Lovato felt that her best friend Selena Gomez was in need of help, which is why she convinced her to go to rehab..Breakup time is hard. We’ve all been there, right? Some however, have an issue with letting go and need serious mental evaluation for it. Selena was having issues after her break up with teen heart-throb and local egging vandal, Justin Bieber. So Demi felt her friend would benefit from the help.
Most, however, thought that Selena went to rehab for drugs or alcohol, or even her potential Lupus issue. Happily, it seems it was just for Bieber. Let’s be honest though, a good portion of us got over him in a hot second after 2010 unless you were a 13 year old girl at the time.
Demi entered rehabilitation herself for some, let’s call them “anger problems”. As a rehab success story, Demi is very encouraging for others to get “help” as it were. Most of all however, she has always been supportive of her friend Selena Gomez.
So it should come as no surprise that she wanted Selena to go. Lovato told her friend that it was okay to be honest that she had a problem according to an In Touch Weekly source.
Gomez’s representative stated, regarding Selena’s rehab visit: “Selena voluntarily spent time at Meadows but not for substance abuse.” While reps will usually say stuff to keep their client in good light, this did help curb some rumors that she was in rehab for Alcohol, and even rumored Ambien abuse.
According to an insider with WebPro News: “She needed to work on her emotional life. She needed to learn tools on how to deal with Justin and letting go of that relationship. This is the first time she’s ever taken time to deal with issues, to deal with herself, with a therapist.”
Lovato being a good friend seemed to really help Selena. As the “Come and Get it” singer left rehab after 2 weeks. Before it was made clear that she was there to get over Bieber, most thought she left too early. Knowing now what the reason was, it seems that Selena is doing terrific, and that’s what she seemed to tell Seventeen Magazine in their March Issue, saying:
“If you’re able to look at yourself in the mirror every day with the decisions that you make, that’s where power starts. And sometimes you’ll have moments where you feel weak, but they’re supposed to encourage you. They’re supposed to push you and motivate you. I feel like that’s something that I always try to do is look at myself in the mirror and really what I’ve done and every day what decision I wanna make.”
It seems both Demi and Selena are doing well. We can only hope it continues.
