Casey Meyering: Owner Of Revenge Porn Site WinByState Arrested On Extortion Charges

Casey Meyering may be on his way to prison after allegedly turning his revenge porn side WinByState into a way to extort victims out of hundreds of dollars.

Meyering was arrested in Oklahoma for allegedly publishing sexually explicit photographs submitted by jilted ex-lovers and then demanding that the victims pay as much as $250 to have them removed from the site. Police caught up with Meyering in Tulsa, and he is awaiting extradition back to California where he has been charged with five counts of extortion.

“This behavior is the very definition of predatory and this website made a game out of humiliating victims for profit,” California Attorney General Kamala D. Harris said in a statement. “These actions at their core are about one individual exploiting the privacy and trust of others for financial gain.”

The site operated as a kind of game where users would submit “wins” of sleeping with a woman and taking nude photographs, with points being allotted by state.

Police started the investigation into WinByState after a woman in California discovered pictures of herself. The woman said she contacted Casey Meyering about removing the pictures, and was directed to a Google Wallet account to make a $250 payment.

Police then traced the money, observing Meyering withdrawing it from his checking account.

Though this act reportedly confirmed that Casey Meyering was operating WinByState, an expose on the anti-bullying site Bullyville had already identified him as WinByState’s owner.

California has come down hard on revenge porn sites. In October, Governor Jerry Brown outlawed revenge porn, making it a misdemeanor to post identifiable nude photographs of a person without their permission.

In January, FBI agents arrested fellow revenge porn purveyor Hunter Moore, who once bragged that he was “the most hated man on the internet.” Officials released a 15 count indictment against Moore that said he and a co-conspirator hacked into victims computers and stole nude photographs.

And in December of last year, the FBI arrested 27-year-old Kevin Christopher Bollaert, who operated the revenge porn website ugotposted.com. He was charged with conspiracy, identity theft and extortion.

Police say Casey Meyering built WinByState up to close to 400 sexually explicit photos.
