Lil Wayne Coming To An End

The end is near for Lil Wayne as he announces that he will be dropping his last album Tha Carter V”. The problem is Wayne wants to drop his album like Beyonce style, meaning no one will know when the album will be released, because that’s how Beyonce released her latest album. Cash Money Records Vice President of Promotion Mel Smith has stated that:

Its going to be a huge surprise for everyone; its an incredible album.. I can’t release the date because Wayne wants to surprise people; he wants his true fan base to get excited but he’s worked extremely hard on it and you won’t be disappointed.”

“He’s one of the artists like Prince who just continues to record. He does it for the love of the art. for the record, he continues to work hard to top himself, like when he does the I Am Not A Human Being records that he’s done, which are a little more rock and roll tangent, a little more pop tangent while “Tha Carter V” is a little more Lil Wayne getting it to you straight from New Orleans. That’s the thing about Wayne, when we put out the last “Carter”, we put it out and sold almost 1,000,000 records in one week. The day we put it out, he was still in the studio recording, everybody who’s heard it feels the same way, the general excitement of something big coming, You’re just generally excited for when the world hears it.”

The first time “Tha Carter” series started was in 2004, and every since then they have become Waynes best albums. In 2008 “Tha Carter II” had sold one million copies in its first week of release, and then “Tha Carter IV” came out it sold 960,000 copies its first week. Some of the major hits from “Tha Carter” series is “ Go D.J”, Hustler Muzik”, “Lollipop” and ” 6 Foot 7 Foot”.

After Lil Wayne announced that “Tha Carter V” will be his last album, he stated

” I signed my contract at 11, I went platinum at 14. I’m 30 now. Thank God I haven’t put on an album that hasn’t went platinum. ” To just keep “my rap career” goin like that, I think not only am I being greedy, I’m fooling myself to think that it will continue to be that great.”

Drake is the one that started all the hysteria this week when he sent out a single tweet, that read

“CARTER V”, of course Drake sent this week to get people excited for Lil Wayne’s album.

Just like Waynes previous statement about how he started at such a young age, he first joined a group called “Hot Boys” and he released three albums with them. Then Wayne got signed to Cash Money Records, and released his first solo album called ” The Block is Hot”, and that album immediately went platinum, but of course Lil Wayne didn’t stop, he had risen up the ranks and was able to start up is own record Label called Young Money Records, which is a branch out of Cash Money Records. Lil Wayne has signed big artist such as Drake, Nicki Minaj, and more recently Austin Mahone.

Lil Wayne has definently proven to have a successful career, and he has won numerous awards, especially the 2009 Grammy awards. Lil Wayne won four Grammys, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance By a Group, Best Rap Album, and Best Rap Solo Performance.
