Rapper DMX VS George Zimmerman: 95 Percent Wanted Boxing Match Cancelled

The rapper DMX vs George Zimmerman was apparently a celebrity boxing match that no one wanted to happen.

In a related report by The Inquisitr, some people were upset that the organizers used Trayvon Martin’s birthday for announcing the upcoming fight. Although some reports claim the rapper DMX never gave the official okay for his participation he vowed he’d “beat the living f***” out of Zimmerman.

There were also rumors that George Zimmerman’s boxing match would be fixed along the lines of the WWE. The man organizing the boxing match, Damon Feldman, apparently staged celebrity fights in the past and openly admitted that the fights are fixed:

“I classify myself as the WWE of boxing. The bottom line is I give formerly famous people the chance to step in the ring, they’re not gonna kill each other. It’s 100 percent entertainment.”

During the trial it came out that Zimmerman had received martial arts training in the past although his personal trainer dismissed his capabilities as being limited. Considering the general dislike for Zimmerman by many in the United States, it was likely that Feldman planned a beat down by the rapper DMX.

Still, even if Americans privately wanted to see such a thing in secret, in public the rapper DMX vs George Zimmerman polls showed the boxing match was extremely unpopular. According to Philadelphia magazine, only five percent of the votes thought the match should continue while 95 percent said it should be cancelled. In addition, the Change.org petition to cancel the fight reached over 100,000 signatures, the WhiteHouse.gov petition reached 27,984 signatures (it’s not like President Obama could have done anything), and the “Cancel George Zimmerman’s ‘Celebrity’ Boxing Match” Facebook page is currently at 320,000 likes.

Such petitions also accused Mr. Feldman of “taking short cuts in the past in bypassing state requirements for fighters to obtain a license to box…. In addition the entire idea of this event is to use racial tensions to lure people in to purchase the event. this will only hurt America as it will continue to stir up racial tensions that have been on going in this nation for quite some time. No Promoter or Celebrity Boxer should ever be allowed to use racial tension to profit.”

It seems Feldman was listening because he decided to call off the boxing match for these reasons:

“The George Zimmerman fight is canceled. I’m sorry for anyone I hurt with this but this was a very big opportunity; thank you. I want to thank everyone for the good and bad comments. I’ve made the choice to cancel the fight with George Zimmermann more to life then money. It was my decision to cancel the George Zimmerman fight; it was worth a lot of money to me but people’s feelings meant more to me.”

Regardless, would you still liked to have seen the rapper DMX take on George Zimmerman?
