Britney Spears’ Dad Jaime Demands Raise From Judge

Britney Spears’ father thinks he deserves a raise… and a hefty one at that!

According to Radar Online, Jaime Spears, the man who has been taking care of the pop starlet since her epic meltdowns in the mid 2000’s is asking for his compensation to be bumped up to over $200,000 a year, claiming an increase in expenses. His current salary was previously set at $1,600 a month since he was appointed co-conservator over his daughter Britney, following an incident in 2008 that led her to seek treatment in rehab.

In the report Jamie Spears details in court documents that, “as my rent has steadily escalated over the last three years, I request that I be reimbursed an additional $800.00 per month for my office expense for the time period of November 1, 2012, through August 31, 2013.”

He then further requested additional compensation up to $2,000 per month. The eldest member of the Spears clan claims to oversee such mega deals as the recently reported Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood. And he is also the conservator over his other daughter, Britney’s younger, country singing sister Jaime Lynn Spears, for which he is also compensated.

As large a paycheck as $200,000 dollars may appear in the eyes of many, it actually pales in comparison to Britney’s other co-conservator, L.A. attorney Andrew Wallet. According to court documents obtained by Radar Online, a judge has signed off on Wallett’s 2014 earnings, reported to be nearly $500,000. And while his role has not been specified in the documents, The Daily Mail reports that, “his firm’s website points out the lawyer specializes in estate planning.”

Britney Spears meanwhile has seen her career rebound following her stint in rehab. In addition to the Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood, the Oops I Did It Again singer also has three chart topping albums under her belt since then. Circus, released in 2008 during what has been described as the most tumultuous time in her life saw Spears transition back to her pop sensibilities while overcoming her reported addiction issues that surfaced just prior to recording the album. 2011’s Femme Fatale found Spears indulging in a pure dance record and became the first Britney Spears album to have three top 10 singles in the U.S. Finally, Britney Jean, released in 2013, became the first album for Spears under her new record label RCA.

Like many other pop musicians however, albums alone do not account for Britney’s vast fortune. Extensive touring accounts for the bulk of her earnings, like the Circus tour which brought in over $130 million alone. Add it all up and maybe Jaime Spears does deserves that raise after all.
