Tiger Woods Will Skip U.S. Open As Leg Injury Lingers

The fall of Tiger Woods continues. The former number one golfer announced on Tuesday that he will miss the US Open for the first time since 1994 as his lingering leg injury requires more time to heal. Woods hurt his knee in April at the Masters when hitting from an awkward spot.

On his website Woods posted:

“It’s time for me to listen to my doctors and focus on the future,” while adding, “I was hopeful that I could play, but if I did, I risk further damage to my left leg. My knee and Achilles tendon are not fully healed. I hope to be ready for AT&T National (in July), the next two majors and the rest of the year.”

Only time will tell if Woods hits the links anymore in 2011.
