Duck Dynasty Coming To A Church Near You

All of you Duck Dynasty enthusiasts will be excited to know that the Robertsons may be coming to a church near you! Well, not them exactly, but the next best thing… a five-week curriculum developed by Korie Robertson, the wife of Duck Commander CEO Willie Robertson, and her mother Chrys Howard.

The curriculum, Faith Commander: Living Five Values from the Parables of Jesus, will feature a DVD set and a book that the duo created through Zondervan, and will be suitable for all age groups. The adult series will include stories from Phil, Alan, Willie, Jase, Jep, and Si Robertson, and the teen series will feature stories from their children John Luke, Sadie, Will, Reed, and Cole Robertson.

“We chose the parables of Jesus because sometimes they are not always studied like they should be,” said Chrys Howard. “God put those in the Bible for us to learn from. Willie, Phil, Alan, and well, all the guys are great storytellers. In ‘Faith Commander,’ they explain the parables as stories to bring people closer to God. We really believe that this is going to benefit the entire church family—kids, adults, and teens. It’s something families can all study together just like they watch the TV show together.”

If, for some reason, you have never seen an episode of the number one television show, you should know that the Robertson clan is deeply religious and they live their lives by the Bible and teachings of Jesus. Each episode documents the adventurous lives of the Robertson boys and their families, with the episode ending with a prayer as they sit down for dinner.

“There are some things that the Bible tells us are God’s guidelines,” Korie Robertson explained. “He gives us examples throughout the Bible so that we may live a better life and those are the lessons that we have tried to cover in ‘Faith Commander.’ We hope that people will bring these lessons into their own family through this curriculum.”

While the Robertson boys may have an unruly look, and may be portrayed as redneck hillbillies, their faith is indisputable. “The Robertsons’ authentic faith and love for Jesus was evident throughout our time working with them,” said John Raymond, the vice president and publisher for Trade Curriculum at HarperCollins Christian Publishing. “We had the privilege of visiting the Robertson family in West Monroe, Louisiana while filming ‘Faith Commander;’ their entertaining and inspirational storytelling brings the curriculum’s five key themes to life.”
