RSA Offering Free SecurID Replacements To Millions Of Customers

After Lockheed Martin’s network was breached in March due to a vulnerability in RSA’s system we figured it would only be a matter of time before the company came up with a solution and on Tuesday Executive Chariman Art Coviello revealed the company’s plan which includes offering new SecureIDs to “virtually every customer” they have.

When you take into consideration that there are literally millions of the SecurIDs in existence it signals a huge bill for the company, but also offers a fix that shows their responsibility towards securing their encrypted network in the best way possible.

The company has also announced that they will provide security monitoring services for any concerned parties.

Coviello did avoid talking about the exact exploit which was implemented but said that the hackers appeared to be looking for defense secrets and other intellectual property and not for immediate direct financial returns.
