Dante Bichette Jr. Drafted By Yankees

The New York Yankees used the supplemental first round No. 51 pick they received for losing Javier Vazquez to free agency to pick up high school slugger Dante Bichette Jr. during last nights draft.

The name will be familiar with MLB fans as Bichette is the son of four-time All-Star outfielder Dante Bichette. Baseball America ranked the slugger as the 108th best player in this years draft.

It should be noted that Bichette Sr. is good friends with Yankees manager Joe Girardi, so much so that Joe named his own son Dante after his friend. Girardi and Sr. played together from 1993 to 1995 in Colorado.

New York also gave up their first-round pick (31 overall) so they could sign Rafael Soriano who was available as a free agent.

What do you think about the Yankees choice in player?
