Dukes of Hazzard: Will The Reunion Happen Or Not?

The Dukes of Hazzard cast members will not be reuniting this spring in Byron despite the efforts of many trying to make it happen. It’s not all bad new though, as other plans are well underway to have the reunion later this year.

The reunion in March 2013, at the Middle Georgia Raceway, was very popular and attracted a crowd of more than 50,000, providing a great economic boost for Byron. The event’s organizers, Chris Jennings and Tim Thornton, have both been trying to arrange a Dukes of Hazzard reunion for later this year.

Jennings wants to host the event at Angel City in Unadilla, but Thornton said he wants to have the event back at the original track. The two event organizers have now parted ways, but Thornton said that the ‘split’ was amicable.

There was no shortage of controversy when it came to the the Dukes of Hazzard event last year. Jennings was charged for writing a bad check to a truck team which participated at the event. That case is still pending, but Jennings said he is hopeful the case will be dismissed.

He told reporters: “I lost a lot of money on that monster truck show,” but according to the police report, Jennings apparently wrote a check for $20,000 to one of the truck teams but the check was issued from an account that had been closed.

For his part, Thornton said that he didn’t intend to have competing Dukes of Hazzard reunions, and that if his old partner, Jennings, booked the event at Angel City he would not pursue organizing an event himself.

Following last year’s reunion, Jennings said he wanted to invite Burt Reynolds and Sally Field to attend this year’s event. He has confirmed that Reynolds is most likely coming if the event happens but doubts Field will be there.
