Ryan Loskarn, Former Aide To Senator Lamar Alexander, Commits Suicide

Ryan Loskarn, former aide to Senator Lamar Alexander, was found dead in his parents’ Maryland home. This news comes a month after Loskarn, 35, was fired and charged with possession and attempted distribution of child pornography. The Inquisitr previously reported that at the time of Loskarn’s arrest back in December, investigators had removed a half-dozen bags and a computer from Loskan’s home.

ABC News reported that the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Loskarn died on Thursday. A preliminary investigation shows that he may have committed suicide. Colonel Phil Kastens of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said that deputies had responded to a call around noon Thursday “for a report of an unconscious male, believed to be deceased.” He continued on to say the following in a statement:

“Family members reported finding 35-year-old Jesse Ryan Loskarn unresponsive in his basement where he’d been residing with family since this past December. The preliminary investigation indicates that Loskarn may have taken his own life, and his body has since been transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for Autopsy. The investigation continues.”

Bruce Goldfarb, a spokesman with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Maryland, told the Washington Post that Loskarn died after hanging himself in his parents home. The Boston Herald reported that Loskarn had been allowed to live with his parents while awaiting trial on his child porn charges. While awaiting trial, the former aide was told he wasn’t allowed to access the internet, and he was required to wear an electronic ankle bracelet.

The news of Loskarn’s arrest had shocked many considering he was so well liked. At the time of his arrest, Senator Lamar Alexander had said, “I am stunned, surprised, and disappointed by what I have learned. The office is fully cooperating with the investigation.” Alexander said in a statement today that, “For everyone involved, this is a sad and tragic story from beginning to end.”

In a statement Friday, his parents Chuck and Gay Loskarn said, “We loved our son very much, and we’re devastated by his death. Please respect our privacy at this difficult time and let us grieve in peace. Pray for him, his family and friends.”

As stated in their statement above, Ryan Loskarn’s family is requesting a level of privacy during this time. Authorities have not released any other information regarding the possible suicide at this time. However, authorities have said that they will continue to investigate Loskarn’s death.
