LRG Apparel Designer Jonas Bevacqua Found Dead

Jonas Bevacqua, designer for the hip hop label LRG, has been found dead in his Laguna Beach, California home.

34-year-old Bevacqua’s body indicated “no obvious signs of the cause of death,” according to Los Angeles Sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino. The county coroner will perform a full autopsy Wednesday, Amormino has confirmed. Bevacqua founded LRG with Robert Wright in 1999, and the line counted several hip hop luminaries among its fans. By 2006, sales of the brand rose to a staggering $150 million.

On Twitter, legendary hip hop producer Just Blaze posted several tributes to the designer, the most recent of which read:

“thanks for everything homie. i wouldnt let u get in the booth when u were here, but you can rap to god all u want now. God Bless.”

In a 2009 interview, Bevacqua discussed his inspiration for LRG:

“I grew up in a pretty unique environment and was exposed to a lot of different things,” he said in a 2009 interview with the Orange County Register. “I didn’t feel there was a clothing company to bridge the gap between all these different things that we were into – that spoke for that melting pot of what was going on. That’s what LRG was all about.”
