Lupita Nyong’o Skin Lightened For Vanity Fair Shoot?


Lupita Nyong’o is becoming a star, following her performance in 12 Years A Slave for which she received a Golden Globe, Oscar, BAFTA, and Critics Choice awards nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

But many are questioning whether in a recent shoot for Vanity Fair the Kenyan actress’ skin was lightened, as appears to be the case when looking at side by side photos.

Nyong’o, who won a Best Supporting Actress at the Critics Choice Awards, is being recognized not only as a great actress, but a fashion icon.

As such, the 30-year-old is capturing the attention of magazines like Vanity Fair, however that has come with its dose of controversy.

In the mean time Nyong’o is enjoying her well deserved recognition and at the Critics Choice Awards — which she won for Supporting Actress — she was seen hanging out with Oprah Winfrey, who tweeted this picture of the two.

During the Golden Globes awards Lupita Nyongo’o turned heads and was very talked about in a Ralph Lauren coral caped gown, which was one of the most stylish for its simplicity and elegance.

For the Mexican born star, who grew up in Kenya, this has been a magical time, after impressing audiences and critics alike with her heart-wrenching portrayal of Patsey in 12 Years A Slave.

This is Lupita Nyong’o’s first feature film credit. She previously appeared in the short East River and played Ayira in the TV mini-series Shuga.

Following her success in the Golden Globes winner 12 Years A Slave, she will appear in Non-Stop alongside Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore, and Michelle Dockery.
