Bruce Springsteen On Kanye West: He’s Incredible

Bruce Springsteen is apparently a pretty big fan of Kanye West.

The acclaimed singer-songwriter believes that folks should listen to the sort of music that is lovingly embraced by their ears. During his recent chat with NPR, Springsteen explained that he’s open to all genres of music. This includes rap, Kanye West in particular.

“I’m not well-versed in it but I have listened over the years. You know, Public Enemy, Notorious B.I.G., I listened to Tupac, I listen to Kanye West. Kanye West is incredible, you know. I mean, the record-making facility, you know, there’s a lot of hours in those records,” Springsteen explained to Ann Powers.

When Powers suggested that Kanye West is also a perfectionist, Bruce Springsteen gave the rapper kudos for the level of production he puts into his musical endeavors. The singer was particularly impressed with West’s recent performance of “Blood on the Leaves” during an appearance on Later… With Jools Holland.

Springsteen said of Kanye West’s performance:

“It was fantastic, you know. He’s a very, I still find him very interesting. I’m not necessarily driving [to] it in my car, you know. I probably fall back on the stuff that I listened to as a kid or something if I’m driving around. But I do listen. I listen to a lot because there’s a lot of information in it and it’s just fascinating record-making.”

Kanye West is no doubt glad to get a little bit of good news these days. The rapper was recently accused of punching an 18-year-old several times at a California chiropractor’s office. A criminal investigation into the alleged assault is currently underway.

On a more positive note, Kanye West recently added a handful of dates to his Yeezus tour for this February. Unfortunately, the rapper has sworn off rants for the next six months. If you hoping to hear the guy’s opinion on one subject or another, then chances are you’ll walk away from the experience with an extreme bout of disappointed.
