Kanye West Inspires A New Religion Called ‘Yeezianity’

Kanye West may be a lot of things, namely a rapper, sometimes a fashionista, and to the media possibly a goldmine, but to some he’s the leading inspiration behind a religion. The 36-year-old self-proclaimed genius has inadvertently started Yeezianity.

What exactly is Yeezianity, you ask? Surprisingly, West himself didn’t start it, but by a founder who wants to keep his or her anonymity. Explained as “a New Age of humanity” the religion was created a month ago. According to an interview with Vice the anonymous founder of Yeezianity discussed details about the religion, including the key principles of “5 Pillars”:

“1. All things created must be for the good of all. 2. No human being’s right to express themselves must ever be repressed. 3. Money is unnecessary except as a means of exchange. 4. Man possesses the power to create everything he wants and needs. 5. All human suffering exists to stimulate the creative powers of Man.”

Of the Kanye West-inspired religion the founder said:

“Jesus has all this baggage and all these connotations, and Yeezus is this new thing — and that’s why I say in the ‘Our Savior’ part of the site, ‘We don’t speak of his public persona.’ Because Yeezus is when Kanye elevates to that God-level, which I feel like we all have the potential to do.”

This isn’t the first time Kanye West and religion have crossed paths. It started when West put out his first single “Jesus Walks” where he rapped about his trials and tribulations, as he had a conversation with God. Next up West posed on the cover of Rolling Stone wearing a crown of thorns, which was the start of his image representing a “God-like” culture. Finally West released his album Yeezus, which put the rapper’s name into Jesus.

So far there isn’t any word if West is actually aware of the religion started in his name, but we’re willing to bet that it might come up during one of his many radio station stops.
