Butterfinger Cups: Peanut Butter Cups Launched, Watch Out Reese’s Pieces!


Butterfinger Cups, the much loved American snack, is introducing its new peanut butter cups which it launched with a cheeky Super Bowl teaser ad, which you can see for yourself at the bottom of this article.

The makers of Butterfinger, Nestle, are doing their utmost to bring their new flavor to consumers with a bang, hence the pricey prime-time ad, and the steamy new advertising campaign.

Nestle are determined to make an impression on peanut butter cup lovers everywhere as they attempt to go head-to-head with Reese’s, the market leader. It’s a well known fact that large companies favor launching new products during the Super Bowl because of its high viewership count, many of which stick around to watch the adverts.

Traditionally, advertisers kept their advert a secret until Super Bowl day, but lately more and more of them opt to offer a teaser in advance of the main ad in an attempt to whet people’s appetites and create a buzz.

Brand Manager for Butterfinger, Jeremy Vandervoet, said: “You need to open up as much awareness (for a new product) and what better way to do that than with a Super Bowl ad.” He noted that the new flavor has been in the making for the best part of two years, and its advertising campaign at the Super Bowl is a first for the company.

The teaser, which has a sort of 1970s vibe, shows people in a food therapy waiting room with various things written on their T-shirts. Focusing on a couple, one wearing a “peanut butter” shirt and one with a “chocolate” shirt.

The woman wearing the “chocolate” T-shirt asks her partner: “Don’t you think it would be nice to try something new and crunchy?”
