New Mexico School Shooting: Three Injured At Roswell Middle School


A New Mexico middle school shooting leaves three injured according to breaking news reports. The suspected shooter at Roswell Middle School has reportedly been taken into custody. Parents are being urged not to rush to the school to attempt to retrieve their children, the educational facility is currently on lockdown.

Local KOAT-TV News is reporting that at least one person was taken to an area hospital for treatment after the Roswell Middle School shooting. Berrendo Middle School students are being transported to the Roswell Mall for pickup, according to the Roswell Independent School District superintendent. USA Today is now reporting that no one was injured at the Berrendo Middle School shooting in Roswell, the information conflicts with earlier and developing reports from other news agencies. USA Today has now updated its earlier report and announcing that the student who appeared to be the target of the shooting is allegedly in critical condition. A 14-year-old student injured at the Roswell middle school was reportedly transported via helicopter to the University Hospital in Lubbock, Texas.

The city of Roswell has reportedly been “rocked by gang” violence in recent years and investigators from the Department of Homeland have been asked to help correct the problem. New Mexico State Police were called to the Berrendo Middle School in Roswell around 8 am after shots fired reports were called in to an emergency dispatch station, according to local KOB News. The news channel is also reporting that the 14-year-old male student noted by other outlets, along with a 13-year-old female student were both airlifted to Texas in critical condition.

ABC News just confirmed that two people injured in the Berrendo Middle School shooting were transported to the Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. The hospital has not shard either the age or the conditions of the New Mexico school shooting victims. CBS News is reporting that the shooting victims were children. The mother of one student inside the building during the shooting told local media that her son saw another male student come into the building with a shotgun and open fire.

The suspected Berrendo Middle School shooter has been referred to as a 13-year-old male by multiple local media outlets. Parents anxiously waiting to pick up their children heralded the Roswell Police Department for their quick response to the school shooting emergency alert. New Mexico State Police are currently preparing for a news conference about the shooting tentatively scheduled for 1 pm local time.
