Wiz Khalifa’s Uncle Murdered During Alleged Drug Deal, Teen Suspect Under Arrest

Rapper Wiz Khalifa’s uncle was reportedly murdered in a Steak and Shake parking lot last week. Now police have a teenage suspect in custody.

According to police, 20-year-old Imani Porter was shot while sitting in a car at the Pittsburgh restaurant on January 8. Porter would die from the injuries a day later at UPMC Mercy Hospital,. Authorities believe that a second suspect in the shooting is still at large.

Reports indicate that 17-year-old Jaron Young turned himself over to police on Thursday, the same day that Porter passed away from his injuries. The Pennsylvania native currently faces a charge of criminal homicide in the death of Wiz Khalifa’s uncle.

Police said they believe Porter and a few friends were attempting to sell heroin to Young and the other unidentified suspect in the Steak and Shake parking lot last week. However, it’s unclear what resulted in Wiz Khalifa’s uncle getting shot in the head.

Wiz Khalifa was clearly shaken by his uncle’s death. Shortly after news about the slaying made the rounds online, the rapper issued a statement on Twitter.

“Rest in peace Imani. Your with Allah now… My uncle was younger and more level headed than all of us. I would have never seen this happening in a million years… God has a plan. Rest with God Imani.”

Young’s mother Ronnica Sanders reportedly made her son confess to the murder of Wiz Khalifa’s murder. However, she disagrees that the shooting had anything to do with a drug deal since her son didn’t have enough cash to purchase heroin.

“It was the right thing to do. I didn’t raise my kid to be in the street. I didn’t. I raised him to be a respectable young man in the community,” Sanders said.

As for the drug allegations: “You have to have money to buy heroin. He didn’t have no money.” However, detectives said they located drugs in the car where Porter was reportedly shot. It’s believed that the suspect was inside the vehicle at the time of the shooting.

Jibril Abdul-Hafith, the victim’s father, said dealing his son’s death was “very, very hard.” He added, “I’ve been crying all night, been crying when I woke up. There’s a hole in my heart.”

Although 17-year-old Jaron Young is presently in custody for the shooting death of Wiz Khalifa’s uncle, the second suspect in the murder is still at large as of this writing. Authorities are still investigating the murder.
