Lena Dunham On Golden Globes Dress: ‘None Of This Is Quite Right On Me.’

Lena Dunham didn’t take home any Golden Globes this year for her hit show Girls, but she may be on this year’s best dressed list for her bold canary yellow dress. The Girls star dressed it up for the Golden Globes, and spoke with E!’s Ryan Seacrest about the designer, and how she was taught how to pose before stepping out on the red carpet for the night.

Dunham, who never completely seems to be comfortable in her own skin at these events despite showing her nude body to viewers on Girls, explained that she’s expecting the worst from the fashion experts on E!

“I know I’m going to see something horrifying later, but I just was trying to copy Naomi Watts,” the 27-year-old star said. Dunham gave out the tip she received about posing, and surprisingly it has everything to do with pivoting to the alphabet.

“Someone told me to make an ‘s’ with my body. Zac, who made this dress. None of this is quite right on me. I don’t think it looks great I’m just saying that is what I was told to do.”

Lena, who has been open about her certain neurosis’ told the E! correspondent that she knows exactly what sets her off at award shows, and admitted that she was less nervous this time around.

“I have to say it’s a little more relaxed. Tonight I did not bring either of my parents, so that’s both really sad and a certain burden has been lifted.”

As for where the Girls star would be if she wasn’t invited to the big event? The actress/writer admitted that she would spend her Golden Globes night like the rest of us. “I would be in my pajamas eating junk food and obsessively refreshing my Twitter. Instead I’ve been starving for days and haven’t looked at my Twitter.” Her last comment was in jest, because in reality Dunham managed to eat before the ceremony. Specifically, she had “a thick patty of hamburger meat,” and even joked that her afternoon snack was eaten “like a cave woman.”

Even if Dunham didn’t seem to be really comfortable with her dress pick, as far as ranking among the fashion greats, she has the supreme Vogue editor Anna Wintour’s vote. Wintour just signed off to have Lena has the February cover girl to promote her HBO series.

Not too bad for a Brooklynite!
