Katy Perry Talks About Finding Happiness And Being True To Herself

Katy Perry has been through some ups and downs in her personal life. The low came after her very public divorce from Russell Brown and the high is probably her new flame John Mayer.

After a long period of self-doubt and lack of confidence the Prism singer finally seems to be really happy with her life and the success in music only confirms that.

Speaking with OK! magazine Katy Perry explains how she was able to get over the hard times.

“You should always be true to yourself and know self-love before any other kind of love. I realized I had to stop blaming other people for my sadness and take responsibility for my own pain and then bring myself to a more positive place. It was hard.”

“I’ve had to experience some very depressing times, before being able to heal myself and get back my self-confidence – which had sunk very low.”

Her divorce from British actor/comedian Russell Brand was a humiliating experience, after he allegedly informed her of his wish to end their 14-month marriage in a text message.

In the July 2012 autobiography documentary about her, Katy Perry: Part Of Me, the 27-year-old revealed that their conflicting schedules and his desire to have kids earlier than she wanted led to the end of the relationship.

Perry also said Brand, 38, did not like her to be the “boss of things” in the relationship.

Katy Perry said in a June 2013 interview with Vogue that Brand did not speak to her after the cruel text message and she was initially so upset about the divorce that she contemplated suicide.

But that dark chapter is all behind her now and after some serious soul searching Katy Perry is doing very well professionally and personally.

The singer power couple seems to be completely in love with each other and even have a duet, “Who You Love” written by John Mayer for his sixth studio album, which features Katy Perry.

At the end of 2013 the pair started promoting the single and debuted the video that comes along with it.

Mayer has had his girlfriend appear on-stage with him to perform the song live.

All in all things are looking on the up for Katy Perry, who looks plain happy. The couple recently flew a group of their closest friends to Hawaii for a vacation. They chartered a private plane to make the occasion even more special.

Rumors are that marriage may be in the horizon as sources close to John Mayer say “John says all the time that Katy is going to be his wife. He says she just gets him like no one else does.”

Katy Perry and John Mayer have also had ups and downs, but all seems to be going just fine and they have been inseparable lately.
