Justin Bieber is heading to the big screen in the upcoming installment of The Expendables, according to cast member and former NFL player, Terry Crews.
Speaking to the New York Daily News, Crews – who appears in all three chapters of the Sylvester Stallone-led franchise – says the pop phenom has been lined up to play a role in the blockbuster series.
“The next one, I am telling you Justin Bieber is coming for The Expendables 4. That is for real,” Crews told Confidenti@l at the Audi Golden Globes Celebration in Hollywood.
“We are going to shoot him all at the same time. It will be wonderful,” he added.
As ideas go, the possible casting of Bieber in The Expendables 4 isn’t an outlandish one.
And given that the claim is coming from an established cast member, it certainly has more legs than recent, unfounded rumors that he would be replacing the late Paul Walker in Fast & Furious 7.
The film is reportedly looking at a 2016 release and will be filmed in Bulgaria.
The 19-year-old spent most of 2013 shrugging off his child-like aura of yesteryear courtesy of a highly eventful Believe tour, bulking up, tatting up, and generally turnt up behavior. Some of which led to run-ins with authorities around the world, such as the singer’s alleged egging of his neighbor’s home in Calabasas, Calif.
In fact, the more we think about it, Bieber would fit into the company of a hellraising, band of mercenaries like an old hand.
Bieber last appeared on the big screen in his ill-fated Believe concert-docu which chronicled the making of his 2012 Believe album and tour, and less-than-revelatory interviews. The film took $3.1 million in its first three days over Christmas, making just over $6 million for its total US box office.
In contrast, Lionsgate’s The Expendables franchise has been raking in the green ever since 2010’s first installment, which eventually tallied $274,470,394 worldwide.
But even apart from the overall success of the movies, it’s not hard to see why Bieber could be attracted to a series that has boasted a host of cinematic bruisers in its time. Stars such as his hero Chuck Norris, Jason Statham, Antonio Banderas, Harrison Ford, Jet Li, Bruce Willis, Wesley Snipes, Jet Li, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, and — of course — Stallone.
Since appearing in 2011’s mega-hit Never Say Never, the pop singer also appeared in two episodes of C.S.I: Crime Scene Investigation in which he played troubled teenager Jason McGann and was shot in his reprise spot in 2011.
Opening up to MTV, at the time Bieber said of the experience,
“Yeah, I get killed in the episode, I definitely get murdered. It’s really cool because I actually – I get shot, like, several times.”
He adding, “I fall down and there’s fake blood and everything. It’s crazy how the whole process is.”
If it happens – and these rumors have come around before – The Expendables 4 and Bieber could be a perfect match.
The Expendables 3 is slated to hits US theaters this August.
