Chewbacca Star Wars Actor Peter Mayhew Tweets Classic Old School Pictures
Chewbacca Star Wars actor Peter Mayhew didn’t seem that interested in Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards as he spent most of the evening Tweeting a bunch of never-seen-before retro Star Wars pictures.
No one knows why Peter Mayhew, the actor who played Chewbacca, decided to post the photos which started trickling onto the internet last week. Each photo has an informative little caption with it and the collection is a real treasure trove for Star Wars fans everywhere.
Among other classic images there is one of Harrison Ford dancing with Carrie Fisher on a ramp. In another Sir Alec Guinness can be seen celebrating his birthday on set in Tunisia.
Apparently there are even more images in Mayhew’s 1200 pic collection which he keeps in an archive.
The pictures Chewbacca Star Wars actor Peter Mayhew posted all came from his Twitter account, @TheWookieRoars and were accompanied with the hashtag #nostalgic. The pictures he Tweeted include himself, George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, Mark Hamill, Darth Vader, Yoda, C-3PO and Obi Wan Kenobi among others.
We’re not sure why, but pictures of Princess Leia dressed in a bikini seemed to draw the greatest response from people following on Twitter. You can come to your own conclusions on that one.
Either way, the treasure trove of old school memorabilia that Mayhew shared with the public via Twitter is an amazing one and offers an insight into what life was like on the set of one of the world’s most successful and iconic movies.
