Nina Dobrev And Ian Somerhalder Win 'Best Chemistry,' Spark Rumors Of New Romance

Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder may be broken up in real life, but the Vampire Diaries co-stars sure seemed anything but during their appearance at the People's Choice Awards on Wednesday.

Receiving the award for "Best Chemistry," the two joked about their former relationship on stage and even shared an intimate moment when Ian gave his former girlfriend a kiss, re-igniting rumors that the two are headed toward a relationship again.

Speaking about the win after the award show concluded, Nina and Ian shared some light-hearted banter on stage.

"We started dating on the show," Dobrev, 25, said.

"We started dating in real life," Somerhalder, 35, added, finishing her sentence.

"And then we broke up in real life," Dobrev joked while Ian added, "and yet our characters are still dating on the show."

The co-stars dated for three years before ending their relationship back in May. They have remained good friends, but rumors have said that the two have been quietly hooking up again.

For example, when Nina Dobrev appeared on the cover of Cosmo in September, Iam Somerhalder shared a picture of it and some public praise for his former flame.

"In a store this morning — who do I see?" he captioned the photo. "One word: Stunning."

Rumors that the two were hooking up again actually started in November after Nina Dobrev ended a brief relationship with former Dancing With the Stars pro Derek Hough.

A source close to Nina said the relationship simple "played itself out" as the two were on separate sides of the country.

"The distance was too much to handle," a friend told Us Weekly.

Whether Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder are together in real life, they'll still be seen Vampire Diaries, which is just about to air its 100th episode.
