Taylor Swift finally received the MTV Video Music Award she won last year. Unfortunately, it didn’t take the singer very long to break the trophy in question.
Since folks who walked away with one of MTV’s trophies don’t actually receive one of the statues at the ceremony, they have to wait months for the item to arrive in the mail. When her Video Music Award finally showed up in the post, Swift decided to share the excitement with her countless followers on Instagram.
According to reports, Taylor Swift received the VMA on Wednesday (January 8). Unfortunately for the singer, the trophy didn’t stay in one piece for very long. While filming the video, the award-winning performer accidentally breaks the poor little astronaut.
“Oh did I break it? Oh God… It’s fine,” she said.
Although Taylor Swift took home an award at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, the singer made more headlines for reportedly dissing ex-boyfriend Harry Styles during the ceremony. Swift was famously spotted mouthing the words “Shut the f*** up” while One Direction was onstage, though Ed Sheeran later stated that the comment wasn’t directed at Styles.
According to the “I See Fire” singer, the comment was actually directed at Selena Gomez’s prediction that Miley Cyrus would take home the award for Best Pop Video. Sheeran said Taylor Swift immediately new she’d made a mistake and predicted that the debacle would end up making headlines.
Now that 2013 is all wrapped up, Swift is ready to start working on a brand new collection of songs. The singer previously stated that she hopes to shift musical gears a little bit for her next endeavor. Since she apparently loves working with others in the studio, fans should expect a few guest stars on the upcoming album.
“I’m really loving collaboration right now. I see it as a bit of an apprenticeship. I want to be around people who love writing songs and have done it for years. Every time I’m in a studio I’m learning, like how to build a drum track, and getting a new perspective on things. It’s so thrilling to keep learning on your fifth album.”
“As soon as (an album) comes out I’m figuring out what the next one will be. It’s gotten to the point where each one is a reinvention, which is what I like best. I like it when it sounds new and people don’t know where you’re going to go next.”
